Casino story

Post by beezer »

On the Jim Rome radio show, he once had these guys on who said they figured out mathematically how to win at blackjack. These guys were in the top of their class at MIT. They went out and played perfectly, winning mucho $$ for many years. The casinos finally hired some people who hunted them down for years and finally caught up with them. They are now permanently banned from all casinos as far as I know. Very cool story which reminded me of CATCH ME IF YOU CAN with Tom Hanks.

Did anybody else hear about those guys from MIT?

If you are going to Vegas I would at least get a Basic Strategy Card for Blackjack. It will give you the mathmatical best call for any given hand. I would use this until you could learn to count cards. Make sure to get a comp card (player's card) use it any time you play. This builds up your comp limit and you could eat or get things for free.

Yup...always do. I won big a few years back and they always give me show tix and free room offers now. Blackjack is my game, although I do play poker if I have the time and have been known to throw some dice.

What about my question from earlier? Whats the difference?

I just thought that I should say that card counting is not illegal it is just frowned upon by casinos. They have measures to take the edge back if they think you are counting cards. Or they could just ban you but not before you make a ton of money.(This is why you practice so much that you should be able to keep a conversation going on) And don't jump a bet from $5 to $5000

So far Texas Hold'em seems to be the favorite casino game.

Any other questions, keep them coming?

That's alright I am here trying to give advice about gambling or just answer any questions they might have anyways.

Is that all everyone wants to know?
