Obama supporters were celebrating Barack's most recent Win this afternoon as Obama was handed a final victory in his efforts to keep gays out of the U.S. military. Moments ago the Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal to reinstate the injunction against DADT that had been brought by the Log Cabin Republicans. Though the Supreme Court does not release details of their internal decisions, at least 4 of the 9 judges must agree to issue a writ of certiorari, meaning there weren't at least 4 judges even interested in hearing an argument . Four judges on the current court were appointed by Clinton and Obama.

The Log Cabin Republicans sued to allow gays in the U.S. armed forces and scored an earlier victory with a District Court ruling declaring "Don't Ask / Don't Tell" illegal. The Obama administration appealed and got an injunction from the federal circuit court against the district court's decision. The Republican group, in turn, appealed to the Supreme Court, a move the Obama administration vowed they would fight to the bitter end. Obama ultimately won and there will be no gays in the U.S. military.
Obama is also on-record as opposing gay marriage. In the 2010 election, 31% of gays voted Republican, up from a high of 23% in 2000. (http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1110/44743.html) Several of Obama's recent speeches have been interrupted by gay hecklers.
Log Cabin Republicans wrote:“Log Cabin Republicans are disappointed that the Supreme Court decided to maintain the status quo with regards to ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ but we aren’t surprised,” Executive Director R. Clarke Cooper said in a statement. “We are committed to pursuing every avenue in the fight against this failed and unconstitutional policy.”
